Curve Affair | Trend of the Decade

In the last century, some architects defy the lines. Presenting curved walls, ceilings, and rooms. That Curve Affair soon as much older faded through the evolution of design. Bauhs and others made everything parallel.
But as we know everything is a circle, and just like the Fenix, it’s time to be born from the ashes.

Curve Affair is the name we gave to the seductive immersive spaces that enchanted us with endless curves.
In fact, Curve Affair is a crush for everything, round, voluminous, and winding.

Architecture

“The curve is the line of gods.”
Curved forms are rightly associated with fluidity, dynamism and unhindered movement. The way they exude this fluidity is what enables people to relate to the structure, making it acceptable. Explained best in the words of architect Charles Deaton, “If people do not have angles, then we should not live in boxes”.

Odd, distinct and still cautiously dabbled in, the curvilinear style of architecture has made its way into people’s hearts. With architects like Frank Gehry, Antoni Gaudi, Zaha Hadid, etc. breaking the need for angles and perpendicular lines, curves have propelled themselves to the forefront of the architectural consciousness. Appealing front making it memorable and acceptable. It was the Einstein tower, established in 1924, that marked the onset of a more exciting and bolder usage of curves in architecture. With this astrophysical observatory, Germany began the modernist era, where architecture started getting inspired by biomorphic forms, for their designs. This idea of using nature to create buildings is what led to curved architecture, becoming the sensation that it is now.

However, the symbology of a curved line in a piece of furniture can be quite different. Perhaps that could also depend on the type of texture, style, and shape. But curved furniture has one translation and one above all the others, and that is Confort.
