The leading UAE telco provider has made invaluable 5G contributions to Emirati society since rollout activities began, providing residents, businesses, and industries with valuable connectivity benefits through the technology. With 5G housing the capabilities to drive transformative and sustainable impacts, InfraX will now access a highly capable 5G network to deliver a seamless use case that bolsters on-site operational efficiency. The collaboration was announced at GITEX Technology Week 2021, which is currently taking place at Dubai World Trade Center.
Fahad Al Hassawi, CEO, EITC, said: “du has always been immensely proud of its track record for supporting government entities on integral sustainability projects and ensuring they integrate the necessary technological capabilities for desired outcomes. Therefore, we are delighted to be honoring this tradition once more alongside Digital DEWA and its subsidiary Infra X. This year, we have worked together to deliver numerous tech-based use cases for digital transformation purposes, and the shared success we have enjoyed means we enter this latest project even more prepared. 5G is a fundamental pillar of our society now and in the future, and we are enthused by the prospect of facilitating 5G benefits to propel the industry to new heights.”

Herman Miller hosts ‘Best in Show – Creativity for a Cause’ in collaboration with leading design firms
Herman Miller recently hosted ’Best in Show – Creativity for a Cause’, collaborating with design firms in the UAE. Woods Bagot, AAID, Wilson Associates, Gensler, and non-profit organisation Team Angel Wolf came together in a spirit of friendly, puppy- focussed fun.
The initiative has been adopted from the US and this is the first time it is being held in the UAE. The objective is straightforward: entrants must redesign a Magis Puppy provided by Herman Miller, which will be donated to the Al Noor school of special needs and Sanad Village, the World’s Largest Rehabilitation Centre for People of Determination. The beloved plastic dog sculpture was designed in 2004 by Finnish designer Eero Aarnio for furniture manufacturer Magis’s children’s line. This design will showcase each firm’s regional flair and echo both Herman Miller and the design firm’s ethos around Diversity, Equity and Inclusiveness and make a difference in the lives of this very unique audience and bring a smile to their faces.
Wilson Associates designed a henna painted puppy incorporating regional flair. AAID created Abby Angus in Dubai by infusing character using materials they had on hand, the same way a child can build whole worlds from everyday objects around them. While Gensler designed an amazing caricature of little hand drawn unique puppies who all had a very special handicapability. Woods Bagot used children doodles to create a puppy that certainly struck them with joy. And finally, Team Angel Wolf brought the Ying and Yang, the balance that they see our people of determination need us to give them.
These messages act as a channel for change by creating awareness about these key issues. Our President and CEO, Andi Owen, has also placed great emphasis on embracing diverse perspectives. In her statement on our Diversity, Inclusiveness and Equity values she mentioned that it’s important for us to welcome ideas from as many perspectives as possible, not just because it’s the right thing to do, but because we know from experience that it makes us a stronger company.
Team Angel Wolf’s story has a very special place in our hearts, as Nick Watson understands too well the needs of our audience. His son, Rio, is a Person of Determination, with a rare chromosome disorder called ‘Denovo syndrome’. As a family, they compete in sporting events, and always include Rio, which lead them to create the non-profit foundation, that is all about inclusive impactivity for the community.

Ideal Standard launches two new ranges of mixer taps in collaboration with Palomba Serafini Associati
Ideal Standard integrates their new design-led portfolio, Atelier Collections, with two new ranges of mixer taps: Conca and Joy. Created in collaboration with Italian design studio Palomba Serafini Associati, the inspirational new collections aim to strengthen the brand’s “design philosophy” and shape the bathrooms of the future.
Ludovica and Roberto Palomba, international design masters with over 25 years of experience, maintain a very simple approach for their creations: quality and intuitive design with an eye to the past, while ensuring the levels of practicality, purity and elegance meet the needs of modern society.
The inclusive design of the Atelier Collection reveals an intentional design choice, offering a comprehensive range of solutions, allowing the perfect match between ceramics, furniture and taps, whilst allowing complete customisation of the project.
Designing the bathroom environment is about integrating the total look, making a variety of choices that coexist dynamically and overcome the concept of simply placing functional elements in the space with a fixed arrangement.
The two new lines of mixers, Conca and Joy, are available in chrome and PVD* finishes, options of silver storm (brushed nickel), brushed gold, and magnetic grey (dark grey, gunmetal).
The formal lightness of Conca, obtained through a flat proportioned, square and very slim design, with a slightly curved handle, completes the skyline of the basin, allowing perfect integration.
“The handle that extends out onto the basin, – says Roberto Palomba – is inspired by the buckle of a Gucci belt from the 1980s and makes it an object that does not go unnoticed, thanks to its square-shaped aesthetic and connected curves. A totemic object, protagonist of the bathroom “.
Joy, a cylindrical one piece mixer, stems from the desire to create a smooth and continuous surface, free of discontinuity. The body is entirely obtained from a single fusion, with the aim of creating a very direct visual and tactile interaction with the user.
According to Studio Palomba Serafini Associati: “Joy is a monolithic object by design intention, characterised by a great formal lightness that makes it extremely accessible and flexible, to perfectly adapt to all bathroom styles. Joy expresses the neo-essentiality of design”.
In its stylistic simplicity, this product has a very strong character and was created to be very transversal: it can fit on square or round ceramics and adapts perfectly to different environments.
Joy’s continuous surface makes the mixer easier to clean and hygienic, avoiding the formation of germ and limescale deposits, which are more easily created between discontinuous parts. The basin and bidet mixers in the range include a 5 l/m aerator, which allows to reduce water consumption.
* Physical Vapor Deposition (PVD) is a technology that, within a controlled environment, ay produces thin coatings with excellent resistance to chemicals, wear, impact, and discolouration. This process has the ability to improve the durability and appearance of a product. In particular, it provides exceptional corrosion resistance. Since PVD relies on a vacuum process, it is also environmentally friendly.

It was from there that we conceptualised this company to bring something new. We believe that pieces of furniture are the perfect element for artists to express themselves in an innovative and revolutionary way.” says Deborah Nardo and Vincent Mazenauer, co-founders and CEOs of Kasadamo Limited. “Luxury furniture will be the new canvas of our artists, to create unique masterpieces that evoke beauty and freedom. Art Painting Lab launches community art collaboration to create a monumental mural masterpiece
UnitedArtEmirates is a grass-roots art initiative created to unite, inspire, and encourage the UAE’s community during a tumultuous time in the world. The initiative is asking everyone; artists and amateurs alike, to create and share a piece of visual art with Art Painting Lab, whose mission is to paint one or more public murals, using the artworks they receive from the public. These murals will commemorate this time in history; they will tell the story of how the UAE’s residents came together to create something inspiring in uncertain times.
A group of resident artists at Art Painting Lab, an art consultancy and service provider, wanted create opportunities for more artists to be recognised, as well as communicate the importance of art and culture as a pillar that binds societies. Art and artists are relevant during the good and hard times; an integral part of our society, their roles document and shape our history and culture.
“Historically art renaissances occur during tremendous events and often incredible art comes out of them. We hope you will send us your artworks, there is no judgement, good or bad work. Paint like no one is watching…”, said Sam Saliba, founder of Art Painting Lab. Art Painting Lab is hopeful that everyone will take part and contribute – from children to adults to communities across the UAE – uniting to create a monumental masterpiece. The goal is for at least 2020 artwork contributions by June 1, 2020.
How to take part: Contribute your artwork by posting on Instagram and tagging #UnitedArtEmirates, or send it to [email protected]. All contributors will be personally replied to, and art will be screened to ensure it is culturally appropriate. Deadline for all contributions is June1, 2020.
