Ideal Standard has visited Dubai for the final instalment of the year in its unique series of events, the Together World Tour. With a strong focus on design innovation, the event on 22 November was inspired by the dynamic ‘city of the future’

The Together World Tour, Ideal Standard’s cinematic event series, recently stopped in Dubai for the fifth of six events taking place across the globe. An innovative fusion of digital content, the tour aims to inspire the international architecture and design community by showcasing the very best of design culture from each of the six distinctive cities.

The tour’s avant-premiere was an exclusive event held on November 21st at the Belgium Pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai. The event attracted VIP guests from the architecture and interior design industry. The discussion was moderated by Marina Mrdjen, Founder and Strategic Director at Intelier, and revolved around the future of design and architecture, from the vantage point of sustainability, following the global mega trends of rapid urbanisation, climate change, and resource scarcity.

Chief Executive Officer of Ideal Standard MENA, Ahmad Hafez said: “Dubai Is an embodiment of transformation and progress. From futuristic skyscrapers to traditional Arab architecture, the city bridges the old and the new, effortlessly. We can draw many parallels between the values of Dubai and our brand values. For over a century, we have been working with master designers of their respective eras and we are now re-inventing some of our most iconic designs from the past using the latest manufacturing technologies and materials to create collections that meet the needs of modern life.

“The physical event gave us an opportunity to connect again with our partners and colleagues, and it welcomed intriguing discussions in the presence of Industry stalwarts. It was an evening of knowledge exchange and engagement. We were thrilled to see the turn out and support from our everyone and are very grateful to the Belgium Pavilion for hosting the Together World Tour Dubai Edition.“ Mr. Hafez continued.

The digital tour was split into three parts, opening with a focus on culture and heritage to visit the older, historic districts of the city, with a spotlight on Ideal Standard’s new and award-winning Conca collection, which takes inspiration from the brand’s classic collection of the same name, designed in 1972, and includes ceramics, brassware, furniture and bathtubs. Part of the Atelier Collections, the contemporary products are the result of Ideal Standard’s exclusive partnership with renowned Italian design studio Palomba Serafini Associati and represent the brand’s commitment to shaping the future of modern living through design.

The event also featured interviews with some of the greatest minds in architecture and design, including Roberto Palomba, Janus Rostock, Joe Tabet, Kristina Zanic, Dr. Robert Platt and Ahmed Al Salami, before paying a visit to Expo 2020, the global exhibition taking place in Dubai which showcases innovative solutions for world issues and encourages collaboration to ensure a brighter future.

Continuing on the theme of innovation, Ideal Standard’s Chief Design Officer, Roberto Palomba, presented Intellimix, Ideal Standard’s most pioneering product. Intellimix is a smart touchless tap that makes superior hygiene effortless with a timed delivery of water and soap from the same device. Its optimized wash cycle reduces the spread of harmful bacteria and viruses, and saves on water consumption.

Speaking of Intellimix, Roberto said: “Events of the past year have reinforced the importance of hygiene across the globe – which is not only impacting human behaviour, but has also permanently changed the requirements for public washroom design. It’s more critical than ever that these shared spaces, and the technology in them, are designed with the end user’s health and protection in mind.

“Intellimix has been introduced to meet these demands by improving hygiene and making it easier than ever before to ensure that all building users are handwashing effectively. Not only that, but it also contributes to achieving sustainability targets, while helping businesses save costs.”

Since its launch in April, the Together World Tour has visited Milan, Berlin, London, Paris and now Dubai – deep diving into the dynamic culture of each city and exploring their impact on the world of bathroom design.

Frederick Trzcinski, Ideal Standard Gulf, Marketing & Innovation Director MENA, concluded: “The idea behind the Together World Tour was to take our customers on a visual journey through time into the world of design and architecture. Ideal Standard’s Together World Tour stops in the iconic city of London and unveils new collection Tipo-Z

Ideal Standard’s innovative event series created specifically for the international architecture and design community, stopped in London on September 23, 2021, for the third of six events taking place across the globe. An innovative fusion of digital content, the Together World Tour aims to inspire attendees by diving into the design culture of the six unique cities.

Following the success of the first two events in Milan and Berlin, which saw the brand launch the striking new Linda-X and Extra ranges from its new Atelier Collections, the London event premiered Tipo-Z, the flagship piece from Atelier. The collections are influenced by the brand’s rich design heritage and are the result of the partnership with Italian design studio Palomba Serafini Associati (PS+A) and its co-founder Roberto Palomba, who is also Ideal Standard’s chief design officer.

The latest film in the series showcased London’s unstoppable creativity and its influence on the design community, including the development of Tipo-Z. From celebrated artist Soheila Sokhanvari, to textile and fashion designer Darren Cross, the immersive event introduced some of London’s most celebrated artists, as well as exploring its most inspirational moments from over the years.

The event was the first in the series to be premiered at a physical event, the Design London exhibition, as well as being streamed live from the Together World Tour microsite. At the exhibition, Ideal Standard also hosted several unique and creative sessions based on the key themes explored in the film, including forums with Soheila and Darren. Attendees at Design London were also able to experience the first UK showing of the Atelier Collections at Ideal Standard’s booth.

Commenting on the event, Ahmed Hafez, CEO of Ideal Standard MENA, said: “Creativity and design are fluid concepts and cannot be limited to geographies. London has been a melting pot of cultures since the turn of the century and is home to a dynamic mix of people, making it a city influenced by a multitude of cultures. As the thrid edition of Together World Tour brought us to London, taking inspiration from the city, we dove into the diversity of design and how it has evolved over the years. Exploring the dynamism of our brand and its many applications on the multi-city journey that we have embarked on, taking our century old legacy to the next frontier.”

A Flagship Icon from Atelier: Tipo-Z
Tipo Z is the centrepiece of the Atelier Collections and a modern reimaging of the Gio Ponti’s timeless Zeta basin, created by the Italian architect and designer in 1954. Approaching design as a timeless concept is a key notion at the heart of Atelier and Tipo-Z, which harness the past, present and future for inspiration.

The flagship washbasin of the Atelier Collections draws from the original Zeta basin as well as the design and cultural diversity of cities like London to create a unique, statuesque basin with distinct character. Using cutting-edge technology, Tipo-Z has been cast as a single piece, with no gap between basin and pedestal, creating a complete, singular form which would not have been technically feasible in 1954. Owing to these technological advancements, Ideal Standard has used new materials and methods to create a durable, lightweight, ultra-thin basin.

Roberto Palomba, co-founder of PS+A and chief design officer at Ideal Standard, said: “Tipo-Z is a natural evolution of Gio Ponti’s original Zeta basin, drawing inspiration from modern life, the diversity and viewpoint of varying cultures, and Ideal Standard’s rich design heritage to create a unique piece for the present-day bathroom.

“Tipo-Z has been sculpted into an architectural, monolithic silhouette, expressing elegance and allowing it to become the shining star of the bathroom. We believe in designing pieces that push the boundaries of what’s come before and challenge what we know about bathroom design. By capturing the elegant, iconic elements that Zeta expressed, we have reinvented its shape and used new technologies and materials to create a striking, lightweight single cast basin.”

The next event on the Together World Tour will take place in Paris, with the final two events in Dubai and Shanghai. To register for these events, view previous ones and access exclusive additional content, visit www.togetherworldtour.com.

Ideal Standard’s Together World Tour explores Berlin

Ideal Standard’s Together World Tour touched down in Berlin, the second of a unique series of digital events merging design, art and architecture. The event in Berlin on June 16, 2021, uncovered the innate links between architecture, design and modern living, while introducing Extra, Ideal Standard’s new range of basins from its Atelier Collections.

Each of the six inspiring and diverse destinations on the Together World Tour is being showcased in an encapsulating theatrical format that combines cultural and lifestyle trends with architecture and design, while providing the setting for the launch of a new product collection from Ideal Standard.

Ideal Standard’s co-chief executive officer Jan Peter Tewes said: “Following the success of our first stop in Milan, we were extremely excited to bring the Together World Tour to Berlin, and were fortunate to be joined by leading figures in the world of architecture to create a unique and special event worthy of the city’s rich design heritage. Through a cinematic digital experience, we were able to shine a spotlight on this magnificent city’s multifaceted identity, while demonstrating our own legacy in bathroom design and commitment to shaping the future of modern living.

“Germany, and at one point Berlin, was also home to the world-famous Bauhaus School, originally founded by Walter Gropius in Weimar over 100 years ago. The Bauhaus held similar beliefs to us: that design should be timeless and useable by many people. The Bauhaus has heavily impacted the modern world and continues to do so, with the combination of design and functionality at its core. Our new Extra range is closely aligned with these values, which have lost none of their importance to this day.”

The event in Berlin saw Jan Peter joined by renowned architect and journalist Joern Kengelbach as they visited some of the city’s most exciting architectural locations, from historic sites like the Humboldt Forum and Brandenburg Gate, to modern masterpieces such as Futurium and Cube Berlin.

Several special appearances were also featured as part of the event, including famous British architect David Chipperfield, leaders in design and urban planning Studio Graft, general director and chief executive officer of the Stiftung Humboldt Forum Prof. Dr. Hartmut Dorgerloh, and Ideal Standard’s chief design officer Roberto Palomba.

Roberto provided an exclusive look at Ideal Standard’s new Extra range, which has been designed in partnership between his renowned Italian design studio Palomba Serafini Associati and the manufacturer, and is the latest addition to their award-winning Atelier Collections. Extra is influenced by the Bauhaus, championing the values that an object can be developed to be beautiful, accessible and functional.

Roberto Palomba, co-founder of PS+A and chief design officer at Ideal Standard, said: “The Extra collection embodies the perfection of minimalist modernity down to the nearest millimetre. Demonstrating the sophisticated exchange between space, form and functionality in the bathroom, Extra is rooted in the careful control of shapes and sizes, and its pure square design ensures that nothing goes to waste, with the perfect product delivered, free of untidy excess.”

Extra has been carefully crafted from ceramics to create a light yet strong washbasin. Available in both glossy and silk white finishings, it offers multiple configurations, ranging from 45cm guest basin to a 120cm double basin option and also available in silk white finish.

Four new vanity basins have also joined the Extra collection, complemented by dedicated furniture units from the Conca collection, which come in a range of Atelier finishes including Matt White, Matt Anthracite and Matt Sunset, as well as Light Oak, Smoked Oak and Dark Walnut.

The next event on the Together World Tour will take place in London on September 23,  2021, followed by Paris, Dubai and Shanghai. To register for future events, catch up on previous ones and access exclusive additional content, visit www.togetherworldtour.com.

Ideal Standard has announces Together World Tour and a series of hybrid events

Ideal Standard has announced a unique series of hybrid events, the Together World Tour, blending an innovative digital format with the attractions of a physical event location.
